Russian Number Station UVB-76

If you're into gadgets and tech then you've probably heard of number stations. Especially if you like a good bit of conspiracy.

Over the last 2 weeks Russian Number Station UVB-76 has broadcast more than it has in the last 20 years. These broadcasts are a string of numbers which is allegedly a secret code, which is listened to by spy's which belong to the country which is broadcasting whilst the spies are posted in different countries.

Apparently they can then turn the code into a message using one-use handbooks which then become obsolete and useless after each message (this prevents it being a crack-able code.)

These codes and said to contain commands and information for the spies to adhere to. These could be any number of dark and calculated plots to something much less trivial.

Many enthusiasts and conspirators all over the world buy high end equipment to listen into the broadcast for themselves, but thanks to modern day technology, you don't have to.

You can find the UVB-76 blog with live audio streams here if you wish to have a listen.

Wired.com have taken a good look at the broadcasts, here.
