"A Few Perspectives on OpenOffice.org"

So what do you think? Propaganda or a degree of truth?

  1. Matches my experiences pretty much on par. If you note, most of the time when another bit of software is actually mentioned, it's Exel. That is reasonable, because the spreadsheet program in open office is unusable garbage.

The ONLY usable part of open-office is the word processor. And THAT tends to garble files from other word processors.

  2. eh that is why i use office, its all true unfortunately

  3. OpenOffice has no business in a enterprise setup, at least at this point. Like the video states, a big portion of what you pay for in software is ongoing support and compatibility.

I got $5 that says this video was made by Microsoft :)

  6. There is truth to it, but they exaggerated it so much, it has moved into propaganda in my opinion. If you are running a company or something, yeah, don't use open office. But for someone like me, I barely use it, so open office is fine. The only problem I have had with it is I couldn't use a poker spreadsheet in excel to calculate my profits and so on.

  12. There is some truth but rest is propaganda. Support, standardization, and compatibility hit in the video are big factors that gives Microsoft office an advantage.

  19. I've always had problems with Openoffice. I just can't understand it sometimes. IBM's Lotus Symphony is good though.
